Our Lady of Iveron

The Iverskaya icon is a Hodegetria-type icon with a distinctive feature: a wound on the Theotokos's chin from which blood flows. According to tradition, the icon was stabbed by an iconoclast soldier, and blood miraculously flowed from the wound.

The icon was cast into the sea to save it during iconoclasm and miraculously arrived at the Iveron Monastery on Mount Athos, where it remains to this day, venerated as the monastery's protectress.
