St. John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople

The 'Golden-Mouthed' — one of the three Great Hierarchs of the Orthodox Church and the author of the most widely used Divine Liturgy. He is depicted in bishop's vestments with the omophorion, holding a Gospel book, with a high forehead suggesting his intellectual brilliance.

St. John Chrysostom (c. 349–407) was renowned for his eloquent preaching, his defense of the poor, and his willingness to confront imperial power when justice demanded it.
