St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

The most popular saint in the Orthodox world, St. Nicholas of Myra (4th century) is depicted with a high forehead, short white beard, and gentle yet firm expression. He wears bishop's vestments and holds a Gospel book.

St. Nicholas is known for his generosity, his defense of the faith at the Council of Nicaea, and the many miracles attributed to his intercession. He is the patron of sailors, travelers, and children.
