Orthodox Churches in Columbus, Ohio

Columbus's Greek community organized in 1910 and obtained a state charter for the parish now known as Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, in downtown Columbus. Services began in 1913 in a rented Masonic Temple on South Third Street, when the community numbered about twenty-five to thirty families plus many Greek bachelors employed by the railroad. The Serbian parish of St. Stevan of Dechani was founded in 1967.

St. Gregory of Nyssa was founded in 1983 as an Orthodox Church in America mission for Ohio State University students. Its parish history notes worship in English and converts received by baptism and chrismation or by chrismation alone. St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, begun in 2000, stands on the edge of the university campus. Holy Cross, an English-language mission of the Carpatho-Russian diocese, was established on March 7, 2010, and began worshiping in north Columbus; some of its members had attended other Orthodox churches because central Ohio had no parish of the diocese.
